Meet Our Guest Choreographer: Dominique Atwood

Dominique Atwood is from Dayton, Ohio where she began her training at Jeraldyne's School of Dance and Stivers School for the Performing Arts. Later she graduated magna cum laude from Howard University, with a B.A in Political Science/Pre-law. While at Howard, she co-founded the first Contemporary Dance Company on campus, I.AM.WE.

Since then, she has toured and performed with a number of renowned companies and major artists. She’s been featured in commercials, films and music videos. Her choreographic credits include but aren’t limited to the Miss Intercontinental Pageant, Cirque Du Soleil, Outcry the Play, Youth American Grand Prix (1st place contemporary ballet) and for a number of universities.

In 2016 she was invited to participate as one of the region's leading dance leaders by First Lady Michelle Obama during her Celebration of Black Women in Dance. In 2017 her work was commissioned by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. In 2018 she was nominated by Deeply Rooted for the Princess Grace Award.

Ms. Atwood continues to share her gifts and talents through what she calls her “Passion Platforms”. She is currently the Development Director of Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Board Chair of Young Ladies Aspiring Greatness and Founder of Arts and Activism. She’s thankful to connect and deepen her work with like-missioned companies like Noumenon.
